As holiday activities ramp up, so do fraud, scams, and phishing risks. Now is the perfect time to stay alert and double-check your transactions. Use the tips below to help safeguard your information this season.
-
Use strong, unique passwords
Create different, strong passwords for every account. A password manager can help you keep track of them.
-
Secure your devices
Turn on passcodes, Face ID, PINs, or other biometric logins on your phone, tablet, and computer to protect your information if your device is lost or stolen.
-
Use safe connections
Only log in to online banking, email, or bill pay on secure, trusted Wi-Fi.
-
Turn on multifactor authentication (MFA)
Add extra protection by requiring a second step—like a text code or app verification—when signing in.
-
Be careful with texts, emails, and links
Don’t click links or open attachments from unknown or suspicious senders. Double-check who the message is from and watch for signs of phishing.
-
Monitor your accounts
Check your bank and bill-pay accounts often for unfamiliar activity. Set up alerts for new or changed payees and report anything suspicious right away.
-
Keep software updated
Install updates for your devices, antivirus, and apps. They include security fixes that protect you from new threats.

Things to keep in mind while holiday shopping 🎁
-
If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Be extra cautious with offers that pop up in your social media feed or email.
-
Use cards that offer fraud protection, both online and in-store. It can make a big difference if something unexpected shows up on your statement.
-
Set up account alerts. They’re an easy way to keep an eye on your spending and catch suspicious activity early.
-
Watch out for impersonators. Scammers may pretend to be well-known brands, law enforcement, or even family members.
-
Stick with trusted retailers. Shopping with brands you know can help keep your holiday season stress-free.
